Dr. Dena Hubbard
Dr. Dena Hubbard received a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Missouri –Columbia School of Medicine, where she also completed a residency in pediatrics and served as chief resident in 2006. She fell in love with neonatology thanks to Dr. Elizabeth “Betty” James at Mizzou. Dr. Hubbard completed a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City. After fellowshiptraining, Hubbard joined Sunflower Neonatology Associates and attends at several Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Missouri and Kansas including Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Research Medical Center, Menorah Medical Center. She currently serves as medical director of the NICU at Centerpoint Medical Center. Sunflower also provides neonatology services for Olathe Medical Center and Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Hubbard’s scholarly interests include optimizing nutrition in VLBW infants, improving care in infants with NAS, advancing her medical leadership skills, and participating in advocacy for her practice and patients. Outside work, she enjoys all sports, music, and is exploring a new hobby of ballroom dance. Most of all, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Hubbard and her husband and two daughters reside in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
